Did you know this about Tampa Bay's Evan Longoria?

How did Evan Longoria overcome the constant rejection that he went through as he was not even recruited by any D1 schools out of high schools and was barely recruited by D3 schools.

What changed?  He mastered the mental game!

Check this video ... very informative as it supports what TCWPreps is promoting with Brian Cain.

Report: Va. Undergrads to Pay 7.9 Percent More

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- A new report says undergraduates at Virginia's public colleges will pay an average of 7.9 percent more this year in tuition and mandatory fees.

The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia released the report Monday. It says in-state undergraduates will pay an average of $704 more, while community college students will pay about $285 more.

The overall increase is less than last year, when tuition and fees went up an average of 10.6 percent.

Testimonial from Coach Sikora of Dominion HS in Loudoun County

As a Head Coach it's sometimes difficult to find time to expose your players to college scouts,  TCWPreps was able to notify me of an opportunity for one of my players [Ryan Doyle], and now he's signed to play at the next level.  It was an extremely easy process.  After responding to an email from TCWPreps, my player was signed within a couple of weeks.  I found the service to be fast and professional, and would definitely use it again.

College recruiters feedback and testimonials!

Coach Milburn,
Thank you so much for the continuous updates and your work. It has been valuable to us and is great information!

Billy Daniels '06
Director of Baseball Operations
LIBERTY UNIVERSITY ...40 Years of Training Champions for Christ: 1971-2011

I think it would be great to have pre-season audios from the head coach on his team preview, especially if they ear marked specific players who had college ability no matter what grade level.

Matt McGuire (Ferrum College)

MP3 format could be helpful, but I would keep them to a couple of minutes and give them a format for the information, typically written info is better because it is easier to reference from my side. The written info should be a consistent format too.

Brandon Hall (UNC-Charlotte)

I think this would be great to get a preview of each team. It would help us zero in on which players we need to pay close attention too.

Mark McQueen (Head Coach-University of Richmond)

It’s a plus anytime you can get a heads-up on the talent in a particular area. That way you don’t feel like you’re wasting your time. I like what you’re doing. Wish there was someone in every state with your drive and passion to centralize a recruiting system like you’re doing. Keep it up!

Will Gardner (Head Coach-University of Maryland Eastern Shore)

I think it would help narrow down who we would consider taking the time to go see and recruit. Certainly couldn't hurt.

Ryan Connolly (VA Tech)

As the Head Baseball Coach at a highly selective Division III college, it can often be difficult to find the right student athletes to recruit.

We are looking for the right combination of athletic ability and academic achievement. We are also somewhat limited with our recruiting budget and are often unable to travel long distances to see high school players play.

Coach Milburn has provided a number of good leads on talented student athletes in the state of Virginia, and we look forward to continuing to work with him in the upcoming years.

Craig Hanson (Head Baseball Coach Dickinson College)

I would like to recommend  to all parents and coaches to use The Commonwealth Preps (Coach Milburn) service because it works.

Example, on May 16 he got me a players name, school, phone, stats, coaches name for follow up, about a unsigned high school player still looking for colleges. We were able to get the player to come visit the campus talk about education first then baseball, campus tour, and tour our great baseball facilities. On Thursday, June 9 we received a phone call from the player and the verbally committed and has been sent his National Letter of Intent to sign, all within 24 days.

We feel this service is well worth using.

Middlesex's (2011) Harley Moore commits to Dickinson College!

Our son, Harley, has been playing baseball for as long as we can remember. He has attended many camps and taken pitching lessons for several years. He has played the travel ball circuit and participated in quite a few college prospect events. Harley always wanted the chance to pay ball in college  while getting a strong education We, as parents, felt we were doing everything right in terms of getting him proper instruction and affording him lots of exposure to college coaches. Little did we know that his pitching video would prove to be the most valuable tool?

We hired Rich Prado of Play In School to film and create the video.  [Coach Milburn discovered the video while searching for Harley's high school coach's e-mail address.]  We had never met Jeff, yet he took it upon himself to send Harley’s pitching video to his college contacts for their consideration. He sent us an email to alert us to his actions and mentioned that we might get a “few” emails from coaches. Within 3 hours, we received over a dozen emails from coaches from all over the East Coast. One contact piqued our interest and turned out to be the perfect mix of a great baseball program and solid academics.  To make a long story short, Harley was recruited by Dickinson College and received a substantial educational grant to pursue his studies and baseball, as a direct result of Coach Milburn’s efforts.

The recruitment process can be a daunting and expensive pursuit without a game plan. There are many people you will meet along the way who will love to take your money with little promise of any meaningful results. Coach Milburn has made a commitment to assist Virginia players with this process, and to offer them as much exposure to as many potential schools as possible at an affordable price. Obviously, his college contacts value his input, as evidenced by the number of responses we received by his one email. We would recommend Coach Milburn’s services to anyone who is looking to play baseball in college. He can be instrumental in exposing various baseball programs to you while broadening your college search, as well. With any luck, you will have your perfect school fall into your lap like Dickinson did for Harley.

Thanks, Coach Milburn!

Nancy Moore

P.S.  Keep in mind that, while D1 and D2 give athletic scholarships, D3 schools can offer substantially more money in terms of educational grants…and they might be better academic institutions. You can attend a school that might be otherwise financially out of reach for you, get a great education, and play baseball, too!

"Daily Starting Pitcher's Assignments" log for the college recruiters

Every HS program has the option to enter their starting pitcher into a secured site where the college recruiters will have secured access to view who is pitching where across the commonwealth.

The goal is to have the starting pitcher entered into the system the night before and at the latest on 12noon on game day.

Again, if any member of your high school coaching staff enters the information, then the college recruiters will be informed.

This is a very easy way to promote the pitchers across the commonwealth.

Recruiting Videos 101, they do help sell you but do your homework!

There are many services out there that produce recruiting videos.  Do your homework and shop around to see what is the best service for you and your family.

If your family has a digital camera and you have someone to record a basic workout, then you can produce a very respectable recruiting video yourself.

For examples, just get onto YouTube at the following:
BASEBALL recruiting videos examples

SOFTBALL recruiting videos examples

No doubt about it, a brief 2-3 minute video will help sell yourself to any baseball program.  Game film is not necessary, need to be more concise in filming you batting, fielding, running and throwing and/or pitching.

Get one done so you can reference it on your prospect data sheet that your high school coach will use to input your profile into our system.

Any further questions about recruiting videos, please send us an e-mail or give us a call.
